My name is Ellen Marie Baxter Beecroft.
I am a Notary Public, authorised to practise in all parts of England and Wales, and regulated by the Faculty Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
I am a specialist qualified lawyer that provides notarial legal services to private client and businesses. Notarisation is the process that I complete to facilitate documentation being used for legal or international purposes.
My practice is based in the north Cotswolds, near Broadway Tower.

Cotswolds Notary
As a Notary Public and Commissioner of Oaths authorised to practise in all parts of England and Wales, I assist clients with foreign jurisdictional matters at my Cotswolds office.
My main role is to ensure that documentation is authenticated, legally valid and correctly executed, so that the foreign juridiction (the overseas country) accepts the document for the intended legal purpose.
I liaise with the lawyer in the receiving country to ensure that the process works for the recipient, as well as ensuring that compliance with English law formalities are adhered to.
What is a Notary Public?
A notary public is a legal professional who is recognised internationally to undertake authentication and certification of signatures, and verification of legal documentation to be used abroad.
Key Functions of a Notary Public
The duties of a Notary Public are to all parties to the transaction.
Documents required for international purposes often stipulate the requirement for a Notary Public to act as the witness. For example, a Notary acts as a witness to: Power of Attorney; an international contract; a sworn Affidavit.
A Notary Public has a professional duty to verify the identity of the individuals, before they sign in the presence of a Notary. Further, the legal attestation of the Notary confirms that the document was signed voluntarily (without duress) and with full understanding & capacity.
Often the role of a Notary Public is to complete a notarial certificate to certify that a true copy of an original document.
A notarial act, with the signature, seal and stamp of the Notary can be sent to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office for legalisation Apostille.
The role of a Notary Public does involve notarial assistance with preparing, taking, and attesting sworn statements, declared under oath. The Notary advises on the consequences of taking an oath, before an oath is declared.
Notary Publics are used for international purposes and foreign transactions, completing notarisation of documentation, to assist foreign recipients with the authentication of documentation by an individual, or a authorised person appointed by a business.

Notarial Services in the Cotswolds
The work I assist with covers commercial transactions and personal matters. Providing public and private form notarial acts to both business and individual clients.
It is my role as a notary public to validate and certify documentation, and apply my official seal, so as to facilitate its acceptance in an overseas country.
Overseas Notarial Work
I liaise with the instructed legal counsel in a foreign jurisdiction to help ensure the document will be accepted in the receiving jurisdiction.
I can assist, if you wish, with arranging apostille and legalisation, if required.

Cotswolds Notary is based near Broadway in the north Cotswolds. Clients are welcome to visit my office, just 2 miles from Broadway, or I can attend your home or site if preferred (with access to Wi-Fi and a power socket).
I provide notarial services across the North Cotswolds and surrounding counties, including Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, and Oxfordshire. Travel is charged in addition to my legal fee and any disbursements.
